April 28th, 2010I never I thought I'd see the day
January 18th, 2010I thought I’d never have anything nice to say about WPE (that would be Worst President Ever) George W. Bush.
But today I praise him for a simple, human statement, clearly meant to counter the absolute stupidity from Rush L.
Bush said simply that there ‘ought to be no politicization‘ of the response to the horrible aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti. Bravo.
And to Rush, who said, in so many words, that the US should not be helping Haiti, is an idiot.

January 6th, 2010Reputation is everything
December 9th, 2009You never know who knows who, who will talk with whom. Considering the size of the planet, and probably the size of city you live in, you will find that people you know in one setting will end up connecting with people you know in another setting. Your rock band mate will turn out to be best friends with your kid’s coach. And then you find out that the coach knows 3 of your clients. Did you dis your client with your band mate? Yell at your kid’s coach? Praise your band mate to a client? It all comes back.
At the end of the day, your reputation is all you have. Treat others well, and yours will be good. Treat some people poorly, and word will get around. Way more than you think.
One of these models is related to my story. She is a radio interviewer, and interviewed a dance client of mine. I’ve treated both well. I think that was a good choice.
The Big Easy
November 19th, 2009I’ve spent the last week in New Orleans.
It’s a beautiful, tragic, lively, sad and probably misunderstood city.
When I passed by the Superdome, I could not help but think of the refugees from Katrina staying days on end in unspeakable conditions. At my event at the Convention Center, other memories flooded back. And when I walked by the St. Louis Cathedral, I could only think about the staged show that WPE Bush put on to profess his love of the city, and then helicopter out.
Still, with the ghosts and the crazy tourists on Bourbon street, and the music coming from every doorway, I loved it.
