Show is up!
May 26th, 2008We spent all day putting up the show. 75% was putting up supports for lights, and getting the lights in. It was a fun challenge doing this while classes swirled around us…little and big people in tutus and tights, stretching and chatting and music playing and instructors calling out.
It’s up now. I have some odds and ends to complete, but I have transformed the space. Get over and see it. Details in the last post.
Grace. What can I say?
My Gallery
May 1st, 2008I display my photos through my website three ways. I have a flash intro to the site, there is this blog with a photo a day (roughly), and a more static gallery showing a selection of my work, by category. I know that many of you are visiting from friends who have linked here, but, as a result, my gallery has become the orphan stepchild. Show some love to my gallery.
Udance Electra. From my gallery.
Terabyte
April 29th, 2008Today I bought a terabyte drive. Digital photography has opened new vistas for me, and I am surprised at how easily I embraced it. I assumed that I would shoot some film once I started with digital, but the only film I have shot is Polapan, of which I probably have a measureable percentage of what remains (unexposed) in existance. But digital also tempts one to shoot more frames. I succumb to the temptation. It’s not unusual for me to shoot 500 exposures in a session, and 1000 is not unheard of. These are RAW images from a 12 MP camera…so they eat more than 8 GB in a sitting. That already is an order of magnitude more space than the first computer that I used. Now all of that needs to be stored, and backed up. So a terabyte is on its way. That is roughly 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. I guess it’s a good thing I am not a videographer…then I would be needing real storage.
Viperjoe. About 510 images that day.
Show, again
April 23rd, 2008Ok, I am fretting. Doing a show is a lot of work. Even a simple show. And expensive. Framing art, especially quality, archival framing, is breathtakingly expensive. I am a month away from hanging, and I need to
narrow
print
frame
build light bars
hang framed photos
and
do some sort of credible publicity.
I suppose I should be doing some of the above, instead of writing. Or I should at least create a timeline. Ack.
It will be worth it. Here is another teaser.
Erica, of course.
